About The Position

Realtor.com® is seeking a Senior Product Experience Manager to lead multiple squads within Experience Delivery in the Client Product Management organization. This role is responsible for the delivery, quality, and growth of a multidisciplinary team, focusing on maintaining high craft and evidence standards. The position involves developing senior individual contributors into leaders and ensuring team members operate within their defined roles to maximize their impact. The role sits at the intersection of people leadership, craft quality, and delivery, requiring the ability to understand strategic intent and translate it into team focus, staffing, and operating objectives. The Senior Product Experience Manager will drive decisions regarding individual contributor development, the validation of work through evidence, and the appropriate handling of quality issues. This includes pushing back against work committed without sufficient evidence and preventing unstaffed functions from being absorbed by the team. The individual will build and manage the team responsible for the product experience, control what ships, and protect the team from carrying undue responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A track record of developing individual contributors into stronger individual contributors and leaders through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • The ability to raise quality across multiple teams, driving meaningful, durable improvements in craft and rigor.
  • Research and experimentation rigor, building discovery and validation discipline across squads so teams commit to build on evidence.
  • Cross-functional alignment, aligning multiple Product Strategy, Engineering, Platform, and Marketing partners and translating between them.
  • Operational ownership, owning outcomes across an area, anticipating cross-squad risk and dependency, and keeping delivery predictable.
  • A protective instinct for the craft, defending the team's capacity and role boundaries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give hard feedback, make capacity cases to leadership, and explain craft standards.
  • The ability to scale a responsible AI practice, bringing AI into the team's workflow with judgment about its application and accountability.
  • Related experience includes leading product design, product management, or experience teams in a software environment, with accountability for delivery and quality across more than one squad.
  • A track record of accountability for an area's operational outcomes and delivery across multiple teams.
  • Experience leading or partnering closely with technical design practitioners — design engineers, design technologists, or front-end engineers embedded in design.
  • Solid understanding of AI principles and fundamentals, and experience using AI in day-to-day team practice for automation and quality improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of related experience, including 4+ years of people management with responsibility for more than one team or squad.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple squads and set their direction, translating area vision into team focus and staffing.
  • Establish operating objectives across squads and coach individual contributors on strategic framing.
  • Own 1:1s, coaching, performance management, growth, leveling and calibration input, and hiring for the team.
  • Develop senior individual contributors into leaders and foster a healthy critique and feedback culture.
  • Escalate hiring gaps, sustained under-performance without a plan, and attrition risk on key surfaces.
  • Hold the evidence bar by enabling discovery and instrumentation across the team and unblocking research and data access.
  • Halt or escalate when a build is about to start without validated evidence or with missing instrumentation.
  • Drive definition quality by owning experience definition-of-ready and acceptance-criteria guidelines for squads.
  • Intervene when acceptance criteria are unclear, success metrics are undefined, or functional intent is not settled before tickets are cut.
  • Own squad-level delivery and the craft bar, managing planning and holding the quality bar through critique.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure a smooth design-to-execution process.
  • Own capacity, including project-level staffing and balancing Product Experience Lead and Design Technologist capacity across squads.
  • Ensure launch quality by overseeing VQA sign-offs and the experience quality gate across squads.
  • Support the product-marketing partnership at the team level and escalate any launch proceeding without sign-off.
  • Close the loop after launch by reviewing adoption and experience metrics and post-launch findings across squads.
  • Hold individual contributors accountable for remediation plans when results miss targets.
  • Feed learnings back into the area's focus and capacity.
