About The Position

The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) is hiring Senior Product Engineering Fellows to design, build, and ship resident-facing products across the technology stack. This is a hands-on role within the Public Interest Technology (PIT) Crew, which builds technology, products, and services intended to make New York City more affordable. The fellowship is grant-funded for 18 months and is intended to support delivery of multiple public-facing products in partnership with City agencies. Fellows will contribute code across systems, integrate agency data sources and legacy systems, and work with policy and legal stakeholders. They will also help establish engineering practices for generative coding tools, productionization, documentation, responsible handoffs, and balancing delivery speed with the reliability standards required of city services. The role is based in Brooklyn, New York. The stated hours are day shift, but the candidate may be required to work various shifts, including weekends and nights or evenings, because the position supports a 24/7 operation. The position is grant-funded and has an 18-month tenure ending July 2028.
