About The Position

Stord is seeking a passionate, high-energy designer to transform complex warehouse and transportation operations into intuitive, efficient experiences. The designer will own design for supply chain systems—including WMS, TMS, and operational tools—that support orders flowing through Stord’s network. The role focuses on helping warehouse operators and logistics coordinators manage inventory and shipments more quickly, accurately, and confidently in high-velocity environments. The designer will own the design vision for mission-critical supply chain systems while contributing to a collaborative design team establishing design excellence across Stord’s platform. The role involves close partnership with warehouse operators, supply chain experts, product managers, and engineering teams, translating operational complexity into accessible software experiences. It also emphasizes storytelling, AI-enabled prototyping, rapid iteration, usability validation, and measuring designs against operational efficiency and user satisfaction.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product design experience, including at least 2 years designing complex B2B or operational software.
  • Deep understanding of designing for professional users in workflow-heavy environments.
  • Experience designing multi-step workflows, exception handling, and data-heavy interfaces.
  • Proven ability to conduct field research and usability testing and translate findings into design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping and component libraries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and understand technical constraints without compromising user experience.
  • Ability to produce polished, detailed designs ready for engineering handoff.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for solving difficult problems and improving operators’ work.
  • Bias for action, with the ability to move quickly and iterate.
  • Empathy for users working in high-pressure operational environments.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to contribute positively to a team.
  • Resourcefulness in conducting user research, including when user access is limited.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing logistics, supply chain, warehouse management, or field service applications.
  • Experience designing for mobile scanners, tablets, or other specialized hardware.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments with rapid iteration cycles.
  • Experience conducting user research in operational environments such as warehouses or distribution centers.
  • A portfolio demonstrating the ability to simplify complex workflows.
  • Experience influencing engineering teams to care deeply about user experience.
  • Enthusiasm for adopting AI-powered design tools to accelerate workflow.
  • Knowledge of logistics workflows, warehouse operations, or supply chain processes, or the ability to learn them quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive experiences for WMS, TMS, and warehouse operational tools used by operators.
  • Create workflows for receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Design for handheld scanners, desktop workstations, and tablets used on forklifts.
  • Optimize interfaces for speed and accuracy in time-sensitive, high-volume operational environments.
  • Conduct user research with warehouse operators, drivers, and supply chain coordinators to understand their workflows.
  • Translate operational complexity into design narratives that motivate engineering teams to build the solutions.
  • Present design rationale connecting user pain points to business impact and operational efficiency.
  • Build empathy across the product organization for people using the systems under pressure.
  • Use AI design tools for rapid prototyping and design exploration.
  • Create high-fidelity prototypes to validate concepts before engineering investment.
  • Iterate based on usability testing and operational feedback from real warehouse environments.
  • Balance design quality with speed and deliver great experiences quickly.
  • Partner with product managers to shape roadmaps based on user insights and operational needs.
  • Work with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible while advocating for strong user experiences.
  • Contribute to and use the design system for consistency across the platform.
  • Define design success metrics tied to operational efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Conduct usability testing in warehouse environments to validate design decisions.
  • Analyze user behavior data and refine experiences based on real-world usage and feedback.
