Lingraphica•West Windsor, NJ
•$109,000 - $129,700•Remote

About The Position

Lingraphica is a mission-driven organization that develops augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technology, including speech-generating devices, software, and services, to improve communication and quality of life for people with communication impairments. The Senior Product Designer helps teams identify and solve meaningful user and business problems across Lingraphica’s connected product ecosystem. Depending on company priorities, the role may focus on MyNav, the customer and clinician portal; the Hub communication software on speech-generating devices; or Practice and therapy experiences. This is a strategic product design role that partners closely with Product and Engineering from discovery through delivery. The designer helps define problems, shape strategy, explore solutions, and assess whether experiences achieve intended outcomes. The role calls for someone comfortable with ambiguity who brings structure to complex problems and grounds design decisions in direct learning with users. The position is fully remote within the U.S., with required domestic travel for in-person meetings.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product design experience, including meaningful ownership of complex digital products from discovery through delivery and iteration.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong problem framing, strategic thinking, and design skills.
  • Experience planning and facilitating user research and collaborative discovery sessions, then translating findings into actionable product direction.
  • Strong interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and visual design skills across web, mobile, or device-based experiences.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, influence product direction, and collaborate effectively with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to explain design rationale, constructively challenge assumptions, incorporate feedback, and make thoughtful tradeoffs.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility principles and WCAG 2.1 or later.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail; self-starter who takes ownership and follows through.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within the U.S., including by airline, for in-person meetings.
  • Must be able to operate a computer with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must maintain a safe, productive home-office workspace with reliable and secure internet access.

Responsibilities

  • Build knowledge of AAC and assistive technology, including users, products, clinical workflows, data, and the competitive landscape.
  • Plan and lead discovery with people with communication challenges, care partners, clinicians, customers, and internal experts through interviews, observation, co-design, concept testing, and usability testing.
  • Synthesize research, product data, business goals, and technical constraints into insights and recommendations that guide product decisions.
  • Explore multiple approaches and translate complex workflows and accessibility needs into user flows, prototypes, interaction models, and polished designs.
  • Design accessible, intuitive, and consistent experiences across device, web, and mobile products for people with diverse communication, cognitive, motor, visual, and hearing needs.
  • Use AI thoughtfully and repeatably in the design workflow and translate emerging AI and data-informed concepts into understandable, responsible product experiences.
  • Partner with engineers through implementation, adapting to constraints while maintaining the intent and quality of the experience.
  • Use prototypes, iterative testing, and post-launch learning to reduce risk and evaluate whether solutions address the original problem.
  • Communicate design rationale, evidence, value, and tradeoffs clearly; contribute to shared design systems and practices; and help raise the quality of product thinking, discovery, accessibility, critique, and craft across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
