About The Position

Clear Street Active is a new retail trading product that will encompass equities, options, futures, crypto, and prediction markets. We are building this with a small, dedicated team and are seeking a product designer with a deep understanding of trading. This role requires not only knowledge of UX conventions but also an insight into what truly matters to traders and the shortcomings of existing tools. The designer will be responsible for the core trading surfaces, including research, order entry, position management, and portfolio. Collaboration with engineers and PMs will be key, involving prototyping within the actual codebase and active participation in product decision-making.

Requirements

• Has shipped retail trading products with real users: equities, options, futures, crypto, some meaningful combination.
• Understands trading mechanics well enough to have strong opinions about where current products get it wrong
• Strong craft and taste. The work should look considered.
• Mobile is expected, not optional. This isn't a desktop-only product.
• Can prototype in the real codebase using AI tooling. Not expected to write production code, but Figma alone isn't enough.
• High autonomy. You'll set your own direction and course-correct when you're wrong.
• No ego

Nice To Haves

• Background at a consumer fintech with a strong design culture
• Options or derivatives UX specifically
• Has worked on or contributed to a design system

Responsibilities

• Own product design across the trading surfaces, from flow-level decisions down to the micro-interactions that matter when someone is mid-trade
• Prototype in the real codebase using AI tooling. Figma alone isn't enough here.
• Work within the design system as it gets built, and flag where it needs to grow
• Be in the room when product decisions happen and have real opinions about them
