The New York Times is seeking a Senior Product Designer with a passion for journalism, design, and technology to lead Design for the systems and workflows related to the production of media: images, videos, and audio. The Publishing group at the New York Times aims to create a robust content management system for all of the Times. This system should empower development teams to build and evolve innovative experiences with speed and agility, and empower editors and creators with a unified and interconnected suite of tools they can use with confidence to make the world's best journalism. As a Senior Designer, you will build complex features for these systems that take into account industry trends, business objectives, the needs of internal product development teams, as well as the needs of the journalists who use our CMS tools. You'll design solutions that pull together distributed media workflows into centralized systems on our publishing platform. You'll be a member of the Media Leads team along with a Technical Product Manager, an Engineering Manager and an Engineering Lead to provide direction for and oversee the execution of the roadmap. You'll scale through a Product Designer to deliver features and you'll report to the Executive Director of Product Design, Publishing. This is an individual contributor role. At The Times, Senior Product Designers are not only focused on working with cross-functional teams, but learning about our products and continuing to sharpen their design skills from more experienced designers on the team. The Senior Product Designer will have successfully executed the design of complex features that has led to hitting team and company goals and seen them through a release cycle. They are an emerging leader with deepening expertise. This is a hybrid role based in New York City.
