About The Position

Waabi is seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead the design of Waabi's driverless commercial and operations ecosystem, and the critical tools and interfaces that support scaling our company forward. This role involves designing workflows where human decisions can impact safety-critical situations, such as pulling a truck off the road or re-integrating it into traffic. The unique aspect of this position lies in the tension between operational tools, speed, and safety-critical decision-making. The Senior Product Designer will be the second product designer at Waabi, working closely with the hiring manager to establish design culture, systems, and processes as the team grows. This role requires shipping designs in code from the first week and will evolve to encompass the full human-to-robot experience, including fleet management software and interfaces for AVs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing complex, information-dense ecosystems (e.g., healthtech, dev tools, logistics).
• Ability to untangle complexity and drive projects from discovery through delivery with user-centric thinking.
• First-principles thinking to build intuitive tools for new paradigms.
• Comfort in ambiguous environments and eagerness to build in unfamiliar domains.
• Strong design craft and judgment, balancing visual polish with usability.
• A builder's mindset, comfortable designing in code and with component libraries.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding as a method for iteration.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or logistics operations.
• Experience designing for real-time monitoring, dispatch, or command-and-control interfaces.
• Background touching industrial design, hardware interfaces, or physical operations environments.
• Experience designing products that transitioned from prototype/internal usage to customer/external-facing.

Responsibilities

• Design fleet management and remote assistance workflows, including dashboards, pre-mission checks, remote assistance, and operational procedures.
• Observe users in their actual environments (e.g., terminals, fleet operations) to gain deep insights and streamline processes.
• Design human-AI interaction workflows for fleet tracking, vehicle dispatch, remote assistance, and operational exception handling.
• Build and extend Waabi's design system for consistency and scalability.
• Contribute to production React codebases using AI-assisted tools (Copilot, Cursor) and ship directly in code.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and operations teams to define requirements and translate them into design solutions.
