About the position

FireHydrant is seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to join their team and build tools for developers to address reliability issues. The role involves creating user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces across various platforms, collaborating with product managers and engineers, and contributing to the design system. The ideal candidate should have extensive product design experience, the ability to work in a cross-functional team, proficiency in design tools like Figma, and a strong understanding of front-end development. The company, FireHydrant, is a full-cycle incident management platform that aims to improve reliability for companies like Palo Alto Networks and Snyk.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment of trust, feedback, and continuous improvement through collaboration with Engineering and Product teammates.
  • Participate in an iterative, product-led environment by sharing work in progress, getting feedback, testing and validating with users, and implementing improvements.
  • Support engineers with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and contribute to the codebase.
  • Contribute to the design system by creating and refining reusable components and patterns.
  • Facilitate design and feedback sessions across the team and with users.
  • Develop strong empathy for users by being their advocate through feedback, testing, and research.
  • Have extensive product design experience and a track record of shipping quality products with in-house teams.
  • Collaborate with and work alongside engineers in a cross-functional team setting.
  • Express ideas and concepts in several different mediums – sketches, wireframes, prototypes, or code.
  • Have a strong visual design aesthetic and the ability to create new patterns and work from existing ones.
  • Be proficient in Figma and eager to learn about the latest tools and technologies to support the design process.
  • Be comfortable working in a very technical environment and have previous experience working on developer tools (preferred but not required).
  • Have hands-on experience working with production-level codebases and be comfortable working in GitHub and React.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey ideas and concepts to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Be committed to growing and learning together with teammates, willing to help others and ask for help when needed.
  • Have the ability to define and measure success, implement feedback, and iterate to improve.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced product-led technology company, communicate well both synchronously and asynchronously, and have experience working on a distributed team.
