About The Position

Pennylane is seeking a Senior Product Design Manager for the Accounting Track. This role requires a strong strategic and design mindset with extensive experience in complex product environments and direct work with C-level executives. The ideal candidate can simplify complex topics, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, and adapt their influence in high-stakes discussions. As a Senior Product Design Manager, you will report to the Accounting Head of Product and mentor a team of 3 Product Design Managers, potentially also managing individual contributors in newly created tracks. You will collaborate closely with the Accounting Head of Engineering and other Senior Product Design Managers. While Pennylane is based in Paris, the Design team is remote-friendly, with team meetings in Paris every two months.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working in complex Product environments.
  • Proven experience working directly with C-level executives and executive committees.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Clear communication with senior stakeholders.
  • Natural adaptation of presence and influence in high-stakes discussions.
  • Strong strategic and design mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing other managers ('manager of managers').
  • Experience managing individual contributors (Product Designers) in newly created tracks.

Responsibilities

  • Refine and update the Product Strategy at the Accounting track level in close partnership with the Accounting Head of Product and the Accounting Head of Engineering.
  • Shape, promote, and spread the Product Design vision and the Design culture at Pennylane’s level and outside of Pennylane, in close collaboration with the rest of the Senior Design management and the Design Ops Team.
  • Represent design in executive forums and act as the voice of our users to the board.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and company-wide bets with other leaders.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 Product Design Managers overseeing themselves 15 Product Designers and stay close to the Product & Craft work of your 15 Product Designers at the track level.
  • Help your team balance speed, quality, and design consistency, always focusing on JBTD and business goals.
  • Co-animate the Design Committee and Design rituals with the other Design Leaders and own with them hiring, onboarding, performance follow-up, career development processes and all other transversal Design initiatives at company level.
  • Partner closely with other Design Leaders, cross-functional partners, and HR team to hire, develop and retain design talent in alignment with the growth trajectory of our organisation.
  • Have impact at Pennylane scale by working on cross teams or transversal initiatives.
