UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Process Engineer opportunity in Richland, WA. Our Federal group is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to support our growing work in the DOE and DOD. The successful candidate will have experience with nuclear system design, working with Safety Class or Safety Significant systems and working under a NQA-1 program, or have experience with energetics or explosives system design (synthesis, handling, mixing, and charging). They will also have experience applying nuclear, chemical or explosive-safety requirements into designs and experience in project execution, from initial process studies, support of project cost estimates, through detailed design into EPC project execution. A clear understanding of the steps of project development (e.g. front-end engineering design) and the level of detail required in each step of project development is expected. The role involves independently developing PFDs, P&IDs, completing equipment sizing and specifications, and developing instrument process data and specifications. Leadership ability at the discipline level on a multidiscipline project team is required. The candidate will develop process models with commercially available programs (Aspen, Hysys, ChemCAD) or by building custom models in Excel, and support business development efforts by developing engineering estimates and supporting proposal development. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria, and devising new approaches to problems encountered. The position may require travel to support projects, estimated at 25%.
