About The Position

The Senior Principal Structural Engineer is a core member of Jabil’s Facility Enablement team, responsible for the structural integrity of data center products and the manufacturing facilities used to produce them. The role spans the product lifecycle, from early design through factory integration, deployment, and field installation. It focuses on scalable, repeatable, manufacturable structural solutions aligned with hyperscale delivery models, requiring expertise in structural steel and concrete design, seismic analysis, and equipment support systems, as well as an understanding of structural integration with high-density MEP environments and modular construction workflows. This customer-facing role collaborates with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, BIM, and product engineering teams to deliver code-compliant, platform-based, production-ready data center solutions. The position may be remote or based in Austin, Texas, and requires up to 30% domestic and/or international travel, described as rare. The role leads structural analysis and design for data center modules, frames, racks, support structures, equipment, and manufacturing spaces. It develops structural approaches for gravity, wind, seismic, vibration, thermal loads, equipment anchorage, and MEP restraint; supports factory layouts and production changes; and helps ensure designs meet manufacturing, transportation, installation, and logistics constraints. The engineer coordinates structural models and drawings with BIM and other disciplines, supports fabrication and field implementation, and produces and reviews calculations, drawings, specifications, and stamped engineering packages. The position also contributes to standards and platform templates, mentors junior engineers, leads design reviews, and serves as a technical escalation point. Jabil’s Data Center Infrastructure team is a cross-industry center of excellence focused on end-to-end physical infrastructure for data centers. It works with cloud providers, customers, and supply chain partners on power distribution, cooling, mechanical structures, and related infrastructure, translating technical expertise into recommendations and collaborative solutions. The advertised pay range is $156,400–$281,500. Actual offers are based on job-related factors including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity. The role is eligible for a performance-based short-term incentive. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; paid parental leave; company-paid holidays; a 401(k) plan; and an employee stock purchase plan.
