About The Position

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff (IC5) on Oracle’s DC Software and Automation team, this role provides technical leadership for software and services supporting data center delivery and operations across OCI Data Centers. The position helps design, build, and operate software for the full data center lifecycle—including planning, design, build, and operations—to accelerate delivery of AI-capable data centers and simplify operations at global scale. The role combines architecture with hands-on delivery. It leads end-to-end execution of major features, guides technical direction across teams, and advances reliability, operability, and engineering practices. The position partners with engineering peers, Product Managers, and leadership to deliver durable outcomes, while shaping standards for code quality, testing, deployment automation, and service operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of full-stack software development experience, including design, implementation, and operation of distributed services.
  • Demonstrated experience owning production services end to end in a builder-operator model, including design, build, deployment, on-call, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong product development experience in Java, Python, Go, and/or JavaScript.
  • Expertise designing REST APIs and building multi-tenant services with clear isolation, quota, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience leading architecture and functional reviews, maintaining strong written documentation, and partnering with Product Managers across the full launch lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage concepts, and distributed persistence technologies.
  • Proven technical leadership, including delivering multiple initiatives in parallel, unblocking teams, and driving execution while maintaining high engineering quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain trade-offs, risks, and operational considerations to diverse stakeholders.
  • A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and operate distributed services for data center lifecycle workflows, defining APIs, data models, scalability strategies, and failure-mode behavior.
  • Own feature delivery from design through production rollout, including implementation, testing strategy, deployment planning, and operational readiness.
  • Build and deploy services, participate in on-call rotations, and improve service reliability using incidents, retrospectives, and operational data.
  • Lead architecture and functional design reviews; write and maintain clear documentation; ensure designs are secure by default and supportable over the long term.
  • Improve engineering velocity and quality through stronger code reviews, increased automated test coverage, and enhanced CI/CD, test automation, and deployment automation.
  • Partner with Product Managers and leadership to turn requirements into roadmaps and execution plans, clearly communicating trade-offs, risks, and milestones.
  • Mentor engineers, establish expectations for operational excellence, observability, and proactive service ownership, and raise engineering standards across teams.
  • Reduce operational toil through automation, self-service capabilities, and observability, including metrics, logs, and tracing; improve incident response and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, identity, observability, storage, release engineering, and other dependent teams to deliver integrated data center tooling.
  • Contribute to long-term technical direction for data center software platforms by identifying modernization opportunities, standardizing interfaces, and improving the lifecycle experience for builders and operators.
