This position provides technical leadership to less experienced employees and acts as a first point of contact for Machining Associates, Operators, and Level I Machinists as a Section Leader. The role involves training Machining Associates/Operators in metrology, sketching and fabricating fixtures, and developing or assisting in the development of new set-ups and programs for new products or process changes. This includes the initiation and completion of process verifications. The machinist will also sharpen cutting tools, perform preventive maintenance on machinery, and set up and operate multi-axis CNC and/or manual equipment. The primary goal is to maintain close tolerance dimensions while producing parts at established rates, identify and resolve machining problems, and perform verification/validation of new set-up programs and in-process/first article inspections. A strong understanding and ability to edit multi-axis G-code/M-code mill programs, multi-axis G-code lathe programs, and up to multi-axis Mazatrol lathe programs are essential.
