About The Position

ATC Automation is looking for skilled CNC Machinists or Machinists to join their team in Cookeville, TN. This 2nd Shift position offers a $3/hour shift differential, a four-day workweek, and paid lunch breaks. The role involves working with both CNC and conventional machining equipment to produce precision components for custom automation systems. Responsibilities include reading mechanical drawings, setting up machines, selecting tooling, machining parts to specification, and using precision measuring equipment for quality control. Requirements

  • 4+ years of machining experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating CNC and conventional machining equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions.
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices and shop mathematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal trade school or machining certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines and conventional machining equipment.
  • Select, align, and secure cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Set machine controls, cutting parameters, and other machining factors.
  • Perform machining operations such as milling, drilling, boring, reaming, cutting, and grinding.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed.
  • Machine metallic and non-metallic components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Inspect and verify completed parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Apply knowledge of shop mathematics, machining practices, machine capabilities, metal properties, and layout techniques.
  • Fit and assemble machined components into completed assemblies.
  • Perform occasional heat treating and welding operations.
  • Identify machining or equipment issues and use sound problem-solving skills to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work independently while contributing to a collaborative Tooling and Fabrication team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
