The Senior Preconstruction Engineer supports preconstruction leadership by developing accurate, timely, and cost-effective estimates and related preconstruction services. Working under direct supervision, you will perform detailed estimating and planning tasks across interior construction, exterior envelope, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines using advanced estimating technologies and design model software. As a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will interpret drawings and specifications, develop clear estimate clarifications, propose and track value management options, and leverage Skanska’s benchmarking tools to validate your work. You will engage with subcontractors to build relationships in the marketplace and garner their interest in our projects. You will solicit subcontractors for both budgets and bids, participating in bid package development and post-bid analysis. It will be important that you are able to confidently present your work internally and externally. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous learning within the preconstruction organization while meeting critical deadlines.

Requirements

3+ years of experience with commercial construction estimating and estimating software solutions
2+ years of experience with common preconstruction software (e.g., Sage Timberline/Sage Estimating, On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam) and BIM/VDC quantity takeoff workflows.
2+ years of experience with subcontractor engagement and market knowledge, with demonstrated ability to solicit bids, perform post-bid analysis, and maintain vendor relationships.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent/applicable degree, or 8 years equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience
