About The Position

BorgWarner Noblesville LLC seeks a Senior Pre-production Industrial Engineer based out of our location at 2151 E LINCOLN ROAD, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. This is a hybrid position requiring the employee to work both from home and from the office. The employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office address. Domestic and international travel, as needed, up to 10% is required for this job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or in a related field.
  • 60 months of experience in job offered or industrial or manufacturing engineering position.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, ergonomic workstation design, and capacity modeling.
  • Experience with cycle time studies, line balancing, and layout optimization using AutoCAD.
  • Experience collaborating and guiding multi-disciplined teams through a project.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Domestic and international travel, as needed, up to 10% is required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Global Pre-Production Industrial Engineering efforts for electric and electrification programs.
  • Develop long-term global manufacturing capacity models and drive implementation to increase excellence and productivity throughout manufacturing sites across the globe.
  • Assist global cross-functional teams of manufacturing engineering, material handling and/or plant personnel to design and integrate new or expanded lean manufacturing systems into existing plant environments.
  • Implement new model resources, equipment, and labor optimization efforts to achieve lean targets through benchmarking, target setting, tracking process change, and replicating across programs.
  • Guide the layout planning process, virtual build events, and engineering prototype builds to validate future model operator allocations and time studies, and work with plants to support physical build events & program launches.
  • Formulate and periodically update the Manufacturing Readiness Plan (MRP) for optimal utilization of facilities, equipment, and labor, aligned with global footprint strategy for the entire business unit.
  • Introduce ergonomic job evaluation at very early stages of the programs and collaborate with product development teams to make sure design fixes are found in future models.
  • Act as advising Ergonomist to assess and address ergonomic issues at various manufacturing sites, develop engineering solutions to enhance operator safety and efficiency, and ensure these improvements are integrated into ongoing program builds.
  • Implement the Industrial Engineering knowledge management across the business unit.
  • Prepare and conduct training for plant IEs for standard time measurement methodology, safe & ergonomic workstation design, and line balancing.
  • Facilitate the sustainability initiatives within the business unit.
  • Track the energy efficiency improvement projects across manufacturing plants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
