About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join the Power Delivery team in the USA. This technical position involves coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team, and/or performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations for clients primarily in North America, but also globally. The role requires close collaboration with other Power Delivery & Renewables departments, including Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, and the Renewables teams, as well as other Arcadis divisions on related system studies and power sector master plans. As part of the Power Delivery team, you will contribute to improving the quality of life by helping to define the cities and experiences of tomorrow through comprehensive plans that incorporate all aspects of client projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of direct experience with experience in power system study analysis and planning.
  • Proficiency with PSS®E, PSCAD and PSS/E software package, including load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis.
  • Familiarity and experience with key North American Market Operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, model analysis, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients.
  • Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis etc.
  • Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.
  • Deliver accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summaries, and other client system study deliverables that meet industry standards and specifications, good engineering practice, and excellent constructability.
  • Responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables.
  • Maintain close coordination and assist other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross-selling and cross-staffing opportunities.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
