WSP is seeking a technically strong Power System Engineer to join its team. The role focuses on renewable energy generation, battery storage engineering and revenue-stream analysis, and hybrid energy system modeling. The successful candidate will contribute to modeling, analysis, and optimization of microgrids, utility-scale renewable energy systems, and data centers, with an emphasis on technical modeling, simulation, and coding. The position is based in Houston, Texas, with Austin, Dallas, Denver, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Milwaukee also considered for remote work. Candidates with greater experience may be considered at a senior level. The engineer will develop and validate models; perform power-system stability and reliability studies; evaluate system integration, optimization, and economics; and collaborate with engineering and project management teams. The role also includes communicating technical findings, supporting publications and strategic planning, following WSP policies and safety requirements, and handling other responsibilities as business needs require. Schedules may extend beyond the typical workweek, and occasional travel may be required. The position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in power systems and control, at least five years of relevant experience, Engineer in Training certification, and proficiency in Python and power-system modeling tools such as PSSE and PSCAD. A master's or doctoral degree, professional licensure or certification, and experience in automation, optimization, AI/ML, technical publications, or data-center electrical architecture are preferred.
