About The Position

AVER is seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to design, develop, and deliver enterprise business intelligence solutions, interactive dashboards, and custom reporting applications. The role spans data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, reporting architecture, and database integration, with a focus on scalable, high-performing analytics solutions that integrate complex datasets from enterprise systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud data platforms. The developer will also help modernize legacy reporting and improve access to mission-critical information. Python, AWS, Azure, Databricks, and Microsoft Power Platform experience is valued. The position supports a government customer and is remote for candidates who live within commuting distance of the customer site in Springfield, Virginia. The person hired must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a government Public Trust clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
10 or more years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting development, database development, or related technical disciplines, including significant hands-on Power BI development.
Advanced proficiency with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M), and semantic data modeling.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex enterprise dashboards, interactive reports, and custom reporting solutions.
Advanced SQL development expertise, including complex queries, joins, CTEs, stored procedures, views, data manipulation, and query performance optimization.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, including familiarity with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
Strong understanding of relational databases, dimensional data modeling, star schemas, data relationships, and enterprise reporting architecture.
Experience integrating Power BI with enterprise databases, APIs, external data sources, and cloud data environments.
Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, and automated data refresh solutions.
Hands-on Python experience for data processing, scripting, automation, data validation, or integration with reporting and analytics platforms.
Experience optimizing Power BI performance, including DAX calculations, semantic models, query execution, and data refresh processes.
Knowledge of Power BI security, workspace administration, access controls, and data governance practices.
Experience gathering and translating business and operational reporting requirements into technical specifications and BI solutions.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex enterprise data environments.
Ability to collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users to deliver reliable, scalable reporting solutions.
U.S. citizenship required to support the government customer.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government Public Trust clearance.
Must live within commuting distance of the customer site in Springfield, Virginia.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, interactive reports, semantic models, and custom reporting solutions.
Develop advanced Power BI reports using DAX, Power Query (M), Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Service.
Design and optimize semantic models, relationships, star schemas, dimensional models, and report performance.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database interactions across SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational platforms.
Integrate and transform data from enterprise systems, databases, APIs, cloud data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse environments.
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SQL, Python, Power Query, and other data integration technologies.
Create user-friendly reporting interfaces and dashboards that consolidate disparate data into actionable insights.
Develop paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder and SSRS as needed.
Use Python for data processing, scripting, automation, validation, and integration with reporting solutions.
Integrate Power BI with SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other enterprise applications.
Develop reporting solutions using AWS Redshift, Databricks, and Azure data environments.
Configure and manage Power BI workspaces, datasets, refresh schedules, gateways, deployment pipelines, and reporting environments.
Implement data security and governance controls, including row-level security, workspace permissions, and role-based access.
Troubleshoot and optimize reporting, database, data transformation, and performance issues.
Support modernization of legacy reporting applications, including migration to Power BI and integration with modern data platforms.
Collaborate with analysts, engineers, database administrators, developers, and stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into scalable BI solutions.
Explore AI-enabled analytics, Microsoft Fabric, and emerging technologies to improve reporting, automation, and BI capabilities.
Participate in requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support.
Provide technical guidance and recommend BI practices for reliable, maintainable solutions aligned with customer requirements.
