Senior Platform Engineer - Core
About The Position
Fanatics is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join its Platform team in the United States. The team provides engineering teams with the platform and tooling used to deploy and run core services across Fanatics’ business. This role contributes to initiatives across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, observability, and internal developer tooling. The engineer will design and deliver platform projects, break requirements into executable work, build reliable and extensible systems, and own the operational health of services. The role also involves leading incident response and root cause analysis, communicating plans and technical decisions to cross-functional peers, proposing improvements to tooling and practices, and mentoring and onboarding engineers.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with experience in backend systems and distributed architectures.
- Solid understanding of the AWS cloud platform and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
- Experience running workloads in Kubernetes and containerized production environments.
- Working knowledge of observability tools and practices, including logging, metrics, and alerting.
- Experience participating in incident management and operational support for production systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset focused on delivering reliable platform solutions.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable platform services and infrastructure supporting Fanatics’ technology ecosystem.
- Build and improve developer tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows to streamline software delivery.
- Contribute to observability initiatives, including logging, metrics, and alerting, to improve system reliability and incident response.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform to ensure consistent and secure environments.
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.
- Partner with application and platform teams to improve performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud-native environments.
- Participate in incident response, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
- Advocate for best practices in infrastructure, software delivery, and operational excellence.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies and approaches to platform engineering challenges.
- Break project requirements into executable work for self and teammates.
- Own the operational health of services, lead incident response and root cause analysis, and reduce recurring issues.
- Communicate plans and technical decisions clearly with cross-functional peers and propose improvements to team tooling and practices.
- Mentor and onboard other engineers.
