Senior Plasma Business Architect

CSL•King of Prussia, PA

About The Position

The Senior Plasma Business Architect owns the target-state business architecture for CSL Plasma and produces architectural decisions that connect business strategy to the technology ecosystem. The role develops, documents, and governs business architecture across the Plasma product portfolio, aligning technology investments to business capabilities and value streams. It evaluates and incorporates AI, Generative AI, intelligent automation, and other emerging digital capabilities into architecture roadmaps in alignment with business value, regulatory requirements, and enterprise governance standards. Working closely with the Director, I&T Plasma Engineering, product owners, and enterprise architects, the architect translates business processes and organizational goals into actionable architecture blueprints, integration standards, and capability roadmaps. The role is accountable for making committed architectural decisions, identifying structural inefficiencies and architecture gaps, and contributing directly to complex cross-product designs while delegating routine decisions to domain technical leads. This role reports to the Director, I&T Plasma Engineering and has no direct reports.

  • Develop business architecture artifacts, including capability maps, business motivation models, and organizational structure diagrams using TOGAF or ArchiMate frameworks.
  • Maintain architectural consistency across Plasma digital products, including the Donor App, Plasma Portal, payments platforms, scheduling tools, and web experience.
  • Identify AI-enabled business capabilities and produce reference patterns describing model and human decision-making, escalation paths, control points, and audit trails.
  • Establish and enforce integration and data architecture standards across Plasma domains in partnership with the Director of I&T Plasma Engineering.
  • Serve as the formal interface with CSL enterprise architecture to align Plasma architecture with enterprise standards and patterns.
  • Author and sign architecture decision records, approve decisions where standards allow judgment, and escalate novel or standards-breaking decisions for formal review.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Data, Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure AI solutions meet Responsible AI principles, data governance standards, validation requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Jointly with the Integration Dev Lead, govern integration architecture for the Plasma portfolio, including the integration mesh, event patterns, and API design standards.

  • Translate business strategies and regulatory requirements into architecture views that guide technology solution design.
  • Lead cross-functional architecture workshops and produce committed target-state designs.
  • Participate in domain planning cadences, including backlog refinement and, where adopted, PI planning, providing architectural input across domains at design time.
  • Assess current-state architecture and define target-state blueprints that support the Plasma digital product roadmap.
  • Identify architectural dependencies, risks, and sequencing constraints that affect program delivery timelines.
  • Make and document build, buy, or integrate decisions informed by architecture analysis and portfolio impact.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and establish an informed, committed direction for their applicability to CSL Plasma.
  • Define and maintain target-state architecture and migration sequences for the Plasma capability portfolio, including phased extraction from legacy platforms, interim integration patterns, and reassessment as products, regulatory context, and business priorities evolve.
  • Maintain a living architecture repository, such as LeanIX, containing current-state and target-state views, architecture decision records, and reference patterns.
  • Develop and socialize architecture patterns and reference models to promote reuse and reduce technical debt.
  • Contribute personally to the most complex cross-product designs and delegate routine architectural decisions to domain technical leads.
