About The Position

The Senior Planning Financial Analyst will be a key member of the NuScale finance team, providing financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning initiatives. The role supports the company’s long-term planning activities, business plan preparation, project evaluation, financing, capital raising activities, and M&A processes. It interfaces with internal and external stakeholders and contributes financial modeling and analysis expertise to the company’s financing strategy and execution. The position is based Monday through Friday in NuScale’s Houston, Texas office. Occasional business travel may be required. The role reports to the Manager of FP&A and includes mentoring junior finance team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
At least 6 years of experience as a planning/modeling financial analyst, preferably in energy or utilities, investment banking, or a similar role involving detailed Excel-based cash-flow financial modeling and analysis.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; VBA proficiency is preferred.
Excellent quantitative skills.
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and understanding of the company’s business.
Strong problem-solving and judgment, including the ability to work independently and seek input when appropriate.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret complex written information and prepare clear, accurate work.

Nice To Haves

MBA with an emphasis in Finance.
Professional designation such as CFA charter holder or CAIA.
Experience in the energy or utility field, investment banking, or a similar role.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain complex financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning, including the business plan, strategic investment initiatives, investment opportunities, and business cases.
Coordinate preparation of the Long-Term Business Plan, prepare assumptions, and analyze project economics and structural sensitivities.
Assist in formulating long-term business objectives, goals, and action plans.
Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to assess economic and financial impacts.
Prepare monthly financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management and stakeholders.
Evaluate capital expenditure planning, financing, and capital-raising strategies.
Analyze financial performance and key business metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Maintain the financial plan and forecast in Oracle EPM.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, assumptions, and inputs for financial analysis and reporting.
Support M&A activities through financial due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation analysis.
Monitor industry trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes that may affect financial performance.
Mentor and guide junior finance team members.
Develop and implement finance processes as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
