About The Position

The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline performs evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other codes as applicable to the specific evaluation being performed. The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline also performs specialty topics including vibration monitoring and analysis, evaluation of hydraulic transients, thermal stratification effects, operability evaluations, qualification of piping for hydrodynamic loads, pipe rupture evaluations, pipe wall thinning evaluations, and pipe flaw evaluations. This position provides senior-level technical support by performing a variety of engineering tasks such as preparing and reviewing calculations and designs of a complex nature. On a task basis, is responsible for the preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs that are responsive to project needs. Monitors the work of assigned staff to ensure requirements are met. Senior-Level staff support engineering design projects with responsibilities including preparing and reviewing complex calculations, reviewing simple system/structural designs and preparing complex system designs, preparing documented design input for drawing production (i.e., P&IDs and Master Diagrams), reviewing design input for simple system/structures, performing engineering review of drawings, preparing and reviewing equipment specifications and material specifications, preparing bid evaluations for systems and larger components, preparing calculations to support economic evaluations, soliciting data from vendors, preparing and reviewing simple reports/studies, developing single-discipline/simple-scope project budgets, schedules, and project work plans, monitoring own work to ensure it is completed within budget and on schedule, providing single-discipline input to simple proposals, and using effective written and oral communication skills to convey information to project team members and managers. Presents written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverables. Prepares reports and deliverables that are clearly understood and meet client requirements. Communicates clearly in meetings with client, and summarizes meeting notes in a clear and timely manner.

Requirements

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
5 or more years of relevant experience
Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements
Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application
Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to navigate a 3D CAD model
Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software
Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients
Knowledge of pipe condition assessment
Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP
Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
