About The Position

The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline performs evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other codes as applicable to the specific evaluation being performed. The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline also performs specialty topics such as vibration monitoring and analysis, evaluation of hydraulic transients, thermal stratification effects, operability evaluations, qualification of piping for hydrodynamic loads, pipe rupture evaluations, evaluation of pipe wall thinning, and pipe flaw evaluations. This role provides senior-level technical support by performing complex engineering tasks, preparing and reviewing calculations and designs, and monitoring the work of assigned staff. The position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

Requirements

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
5 or more years of relevant experience
Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements
Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application
Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to navigate a 3D CAD model
Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software
Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients
Knowledge of pipe condition assessment
Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical
Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

Prepares and reviews complex calculations.
Reviews simple system/structural designs and prepares complex system designs.
Prepares documented design input for drawing production (i.e., P&IDs and Master Diagrams).
Reviews design input for simple system/structures.
Performs engineering review of drawings.
Prepares and reviews equipment specifications.
Prepares material specifications.
Prepares bid evaluations for systems and larger components.
Prepares calculations to support economic evaluations.
Solicits data from vendors.
Prepares and reviews simple reports/studies.
Develops single-discipline/simple-scope project budgets, schedules, and project work plans.
Monitors own work to ensure it is completed within budget and on schedule.
Provides single-discipline input to simple proposals.
Uses effective written and oral communication skills to convey information to project team members and managers.
Presents written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverables.
Prepares reports and deliverables that are clearly understood and meet client requirements.
Communicates clearly in meetings with client, and summarizes meeting notes in a clear and timely manner.
Leads others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
Directs automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
Oversees engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
