In this position, you will be responsible for piping analysis work on new and existing generation nuclear projects, and will interface with systems engineering, structural engineering, piping design, and support design groups, for the design of piping systems and pipe supporting elements. This role involves reconciling pipe stress reports for as-built conditions, preparing analytical reports to determine the reactions of piping on equipment and structures, and interpreting and applying code requirements. You will review proposed piping support systems, identify issues, and recommend appropriate, cost-effective solutions. The position requires interfacing and exchanging engineering details with external contacts including equipment suppliers, clients, and installation contractors, managing workload to meet project commitments, and consulting with clients and others on field-related issues including follow-up reports or design modifications. You will also coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design. Career development is encouraged through peer-learning and sharing of knowledge with experienced engineers via S&L’s systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice”. Additionally, you will provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
