About The Position

As a Senior Physician Liaison, you will lead, coach, and scale our physician liaison program across multiple ophthalmology markets. This is a senior leadership role with enterprise-level visibility and accountability, responsible for setting direction, building consistency, developing talent, and driving measurable growth through strong physician relationships and an exceptional referral experience. This role partners closely with affiliate leadership, clinical teams, and corporate marketing to ensure outreach efforts are aligned, disciplined, and impactful. The Senior Physician Liaison serves as the voice of the field—bringing market insight, physician feedback, and referral trends back to leadership to inform strategy, improve access, and enhance patient care. This is not an individual contributor role. Success is defined by the performance of the team, the strength of physician partnerships, and the organization’s ability to grow while staying grounded in service, integrity, and patient-first care. Hybrid: 2 days in office, Travel Required: 25 – 45% The compensation package includes a base salary and an annual performance-based bonus tied to defined performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or 10+ years’ experience in sales.
  • Proven experience in a similar senior-level physician liaison or marketing management role within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with physicians, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics for strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs and educational initiatives.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software and Patient engagement/communication tools.
  • Hybrid: 2 days in office, Travel Required: 25 – 45%. Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of Physician Liaisons across multiple markets.
  • Establish clear expectations for outreach activity, professionalism, relationship management, and follow-through.
  • Implement a consistent coaching rhythm, including regular check-ins, field support, and formal performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain onboarding and ongoing training programs that strengthen consultative skills, ophthalmology knowledge, and service excellence.
  • Identify high-potential talent and support professional growth and succession planning within the liaison team.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to affiliate leaders on physician engagement strategy and issue resolution.
  • Develop and execute physician liaison strategies aligned to EyeSouth’s ophthalmology service lines (e.g., cataract, refractive/LASIK, glaucoma, retina, dry eye, oculoplastics based on affiliate offerings).
  • Strengthen relationships with key referral audiences, including optometrists, primary care providers, specialty physicians, and practice leadership.
  • Identify and address referral friction points such as access, scheduling, communication, and post-operative coordination in partnership with Physician Liaisons affiliate operations.
  • Support complex physician relationships and strategic accounts alongside affiliate and executive leadership.
  • Establish territory planning standards with clear priorities, goals, and quarterly focus areas across markets.
  • Analyze referral trends, market opportunity, and performance data to guide strategy and resource allocation.
  • Ensure consistent CRM usage, data integrity, and reporting across the liaison team.
  • Use data and insights to coach performance, identify opportunities, and communicate results to leadership.
  • Oversee planning and execution of physician education and engagement initiatives, including office in-services, educational programs, and relationship-building events.
  • Ensure events are well-coordinated, professional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop effective outreach materials and presentations that clearly communicate EyeSouth’s value to referring providers and their teams.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements related to healthcare interactions.
