About The Position

This is a 12-month maximum term contract opportunity. As a Senior Permits Consultant, you will play a critical role in managing the approvals phase of residential construction projects, ensuring work progresses efficiently through Pre-Construction. This is a senior, hands-on position combining technical permits expertise with team leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You will support and guide Permits Consultants, help manager workflow and priorities, and work closely with the Permits Manager to maintain consistency, quality and compliance across the approvals process. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, including councils, private certifiers and consultants. This position suits an experienced permits professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is confident acting as a trusted advisor while balancing requirements with customer and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a permits or pre-construction role (minimum 2 years)
  • Strong understanding of residential construction approvals
  • Demonstrated leadership or senior-level experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong systems capability and ability to adapt to new platforms
  • Ability to work under pressure and navigate complex approval pathways

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration (or similar)
  • Experience within the residential construction sector

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Permits Consultants, including workflow coordination, onboarding and capability development
  • Oversee the end-to-end approvals process during Pre-Construction
  • Liaise with councils, private certifiers, consultants, and internal teams to resolve approval issues efficiently
  • Ensure accurate submission, tracking, and management of permits and approvals documentation
  • Maintain strong communication with Customer Experience Team to support proactive client updates
  • Identify and escalate compliance trends and improvement opportunities
