About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking a Sr GNC Engineer to join their team in Orlando, FL or Dallas, TX. This role involves supporting the integration, test, verification, and validation of missile algorithms, as well as system performance assessments and trade studies. The engineer will be responsible for pre-flight performance prediction simulations, post-flight reconstruction, and model verification/validation with flight test data. The position requires experience with basic flight mechanics, six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) flight simulations, and strong problem-solving skills to identify and correct simulation or flight test data anomalies. Knowledge of statistical analysis, data reduction, reporting, and post-processing tool development is also necessary. The candidate should have working knowledge of Linux shell, higher-order languages like MATLAB and Python, and ideally FORTRAN and/or C++ programming experience. Experience using and tailoring post-run analysis scripts and tools is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and math skills specifically in the areas of controls
  • Proficient in C++ and/or FORTRAN
  • Experienced with MATLAB
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experienced with Missile 6DOF simulation design and analysis
  • Experienced with developing and analyzing guidance and/or autopilot algorithms
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Working-knowledge of Linux shell
  • Working-knowledge of higher order languages (MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience using and tailoring post-run analysis scripts and tools
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods of simulation data and data reduction methods

Nice To Haves

  • FORTRAN and/or C++ programming experience a plus
  • Strong Modeling and Simulation background
  • Strong experience in root cause analysis
