About The Position

Uplight is creating a new category of energy by developing software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses. This software includes smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and behavioral adjustments to generate, shift, or save energy. The goal is to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable, thereby creating clean energy capacity that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and saves customers money. The company is seeking a Senior People Business Partner to contribute to its mission of leading the clean energy revolution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a People Business Partner in high-growth tech environments.
  • Direct experience advising leadership at all levels of the business.
  • Experience supporting remote or global teams (familiarity with supporting teams in India is a strong plus).
  • Broad foundation across compensation practices, org design, employee relations, and employment laws.
  • Ability to translate complex policies and legal requirements into clear, sensible business practices, balancing process with a human lens.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations, build consensus, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle priorities and focus on the most important tasks in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive business outcomes by understanding assigned business units' operational goals, financial drivers, and challenges, and building tailored people strategies to advance those objectives.
  • Lead organizational design, cultural initiatives, and change management to ensure teams remain resilient, aligned, and well-supported during periods of growth.
  • Utilize HR metrics and employee feedback to identify friction points and collaborate with leaders and the People Team to implement practical solutions.
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of workforce planning, compensation, succession, and performance management for assigned groups.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on complex employee issues and continuously improve processes to mitigate risk and protect company culture.
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across business units.
