About The Position

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company that has expanded into Sports and Entertainment Food & Beverage Services. They are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage all aspects of preparing and distributing employee payments. This individual contributor position is responsible for processing biweekly payroll and collaborating with finance and human resources on all payroll-related tasks and integrations.

Requirements

  • 2-6 years of combined HR and payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume environment (1,000–3,000+ employees).
  • Position is ideal for highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and serving as a reliable resource for employees and leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, multi-state regulations, and payroll tax requirements.
  • Experience with major payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, UKG, Paycor or similar).
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and customer-service mindset when interacting with employees and management.
  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including potential holidays, weekends, and evening shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing accurately and on time.
  • Prepare payroll reports (monthly, quarterly, year-end).
  • Handle garnishments, reimbursements and benefit deductions.
  • Handles and serves as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries; research and resolve issues promptly.
  • Supports audits and ensure compliance with payroll regulations especially year-end processes.
  • Maintains internal controls to ensure the integrity of the payroll system.
  • Review and validate timesheets, PTO, overtime, adjustments, and special pay.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manages the issuance of the annual W2s, and any other payroll related forms for income tax.
  • Manages COBRA, benefit elections and terminations in benefit systems.
  • Audits all benefit bills monthly to ensure accuracy for finance department.
  • Strong knowledge of FLSA Laws and Practices.
  • Work closely with HR and management teams to implement process improvements, test system changes, and lead special projects within the payroll department.
  • Performs other duties as needed for the role.
