About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist . This role is responsible for the end‑to‑end processing of weekly payroll , ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has strong experience performing payroll audits, resolving discrepancies, and processing corrections and retroactive payments. Workday payroll experience is strongly preferred.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands‑on payroll processing experience (weekly payroll preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance.
• Workday Payroll experience highly preferred ; other enterprise payroll system experience considered.
• Proven ability to calculate retro pay and reconcile complex payroll discrepancies.
• High level of accuracy, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• CPP certification is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for all employees.
• Perform regular payroll audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage and process corrections , adjustments, and retroactive pay calculations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
• Maintain and update employee payroll information within Workday (or other payroll systems).
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and managers to resolve payroll-related inquiries.
• Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end activities as needed.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
