About The Position

The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for over 1,000 management and event-based employees. This role plays a key part in ensuring payroll compliance, maintaining data integrity, and supporting both employees and internal teams through thoughtful service, auditing, and collaborative process improvements. The ideal candidate is meticulous, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic environment where accuracy and confidentiality are paramount. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in high-volume payroll processing, strong analytical skills, and a drive to improve systems and workflows.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent practical experience in payroll or accounting
  • Demonstrated experience in high-volume payroll processing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to manage multiple work streams with competing priorities
  • Team player with a well-developed collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Able to identify inefficiencies and implement modern, scalable payroll solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex payroll matters
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations, including FLSA and garnishment administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on leveraging Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end payroll processing, auditing, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Proven ability to handle complex payroll cases such as retroactive pay, adjustments, and union payroll administration

Nice To Haves

  • Experience processing payroll in the sports and entertainment industry
  • Experience with ABIMM, UKG Pro
  • Experience in creating and delivering employee training on system utilization

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls for 1,000+ management and event-based employees.
  • Weekly audit and issue resolution of timesheet data from our ABIMM timekeeping system using customer support skills to improve accuracy and timeliness of timesheet finalization.
  • Provide ABIMM timekeeping and HRIS system payroll support to managers and employees as needed.
  • Serve as the department expert on ABIMM, collaborating with partners to streamline and improve data flow across functional areas.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity across systems.
  • Generate routine payroll reports for use in calculating and reconciling agency remittances for employee deductions such as employee 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and union dues.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation.
  • Provide outstanding support for employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies with a focus on outstanding service and confidentiality.
  • Assist with training and development by preparing materials and leading sessions based on organizational needs.
  • Support existing internal processes and company policies and collaborate on the innovation of future policies including creating desk instruction and assisting with SOPs.
  • Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned.
