About The Position

We're seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality payroll services while providing specialist payroll expertise across the organisation. Based at Newstead, this is a maximum-term contract for 12 months. As a subject matter expert, you will manage complex payroll matters, champion compliance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor team members to ensure service excellence.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, EBAs, taxation, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience resolving complex payroll issues and driving process improvements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and coaching skills.
• Experience using Aurion, Kronos, and payroll reconciliation tools.
• A collaborative approach with a strong focus on accuracy, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Interpret and apply awards, EBAs, legislation, taxation, and employment conditions.
• Resolve complex payroll issues and act as an escalation point for enquiries.
• Conduct audits, reconciliations, and data integrity checks.
• Partner with Finance, HR Systems, and Rostering teams to improve payroll processes.
• Monitor legislative changes and implement required process and system updates.
• Coach and mentor Payroll Officers and contribute to team capability development.
• Lead and support payroll improvement projects, system upgrades, and change initiatives.
