About The Position

First Baptist Church of Port Angeles, WA is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who demonstrates a passionate and disciplined love for Jesus Christ and God’s Word – a pastor who models a growing and authentic walk with Christ through a lifestyle marked by humility, transparency, integrity, and spiritual maturity. This individual will build trust, provide Christ-centered leadership, and help cast a clear vision for the church’s future: shepherding, equipping, and inspiring the congregation while leading the church in carrying out its mission and ministry in the community and beyond. In addition to spiritual leadership, the pastor will help oversee the church’s day-to-day ministry and operations, working collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • National and/or regional recognition of licensing or ordination
  • Demonstrated “real-world” non-church employment experience
  • Demonstrated administrative experience and stewardship of time
  • Demonstrated personal spiritual growth habits and disciplines

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s and master’s degree or their equivalent is preferred, but not necessarily required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of vision discernment and mission implementation – including worship services, preaching, weddings, and funerals
  • Lead discipleship: training in worship, prayer, study, and living in community that produces followers who make disciples; training leaders to make disciples and lead ministries
  • Enable congregational care – training and encouraging members to care for each other as an example of their love for Christ
  • Lead officers, boards, and committees in vision discernment and in long-range and short-term planning and execution – consulting, advising, coordinating, and evaluating
  • Function as a “player/coach” who creates a healthy ministry environment while supervising, developing, and holding staff and leadership accountable to the vision and their ministry
  • Provide for office administration with accurate centralized recordkeeping, and maintain office hours and availability for personal and group interactions
  • Maintain board governance and boundary principles – accountable to the church corporately and to the Elder Board
  • Maintain a working relationship with Mission Northwest, attend Region events, and maintain a relationship with the closest Mission Northwest Pastor Connect Group
  • Cooperate with local like-minded churches for the broader witness of Christ

Benefits

  • Cash salary, housing allowance, and Social Security offset – $65,000
  • Professional allowance – $2,400 per year
  • MMBB retirement (16% of compensation) – $10,400
  • Medical reimbursement to be negotiated
