About The Position

The Senior Parks Worker position is a full-time, year-round role within the Parks and Grounds Department. This role involves advanced operation of heavy equipment, maintenance of roads and infrastructure, utility work, hazardous tree removal, snow and ice management, and general property upkeep. The Senior Parks Worker also serves as a lead worker, providing direction and technical expertise to ensure safe and efficient completion of tasks.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and at least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
  • Class A CDL license.
  • Experienced equipment operator.

  • Previous property management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicles and powered equipment including tractors, bucket loaders, twin-axle vehicles, bulldozers, graders, snowplows, chainsaws, trimmers, compactors, pole saws, snow blowers, rollers, excavators, and skid steers.
  • Pick up, transport, and properly dispose of trash and recyclable materials.
  • Use hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, pitchforks, wheelbarrows, hoses, and tampers.
  • Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures including buildings, fences, walls, culverts, and benches.
  • Safely operate chainsaws and perform tree felling, cutting, bucking, and processing.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain the integrity, safety, and appearance of assigned work areas.
  • Inspect, clean, service, and maintain all tools, equipment, and assigned Parks assets.
  • Assist with stacking, loading, transporting, and storing hay and related materials.
  • Operate excavators, loaders, skid steers, and related heavy equipment efficiently.
  • Assist the Parks Foreman in construction, installation, and completion of property improvement and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain drainage systems and perform repairs to culverts, retaining walls, and related infrastructure.
  • Safely back trailers and maneuver equipment unassisted.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Perform below-grade water and sewer line installation, repairs, hookups, and maintenance.
  • Support other departments in completing related operational and property maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate the use, maintenance, repair, and safe operation of Parks and Grounds vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain roadway, carriage road, and trail surfaces to ensure they are smooth, clean, safe, and free of debris and hazards.
  • Operate graders and bulldozers.
  • Perform snow and ice removal operations using plows, blowers, salt spreaders, and shovels.
  • Remain on-call year-round for storm response and emergency property needs.
  • Keep road edges, trails, and work areas clear of obstructions.
  • Contribute positively to staff morale and maintain a cooperative, team-oriented attitude.
  • Operate vehicles safely in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations.
  • Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision.

  • Perform physical duties including reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds from ground level to 36 inches with or without assistance, lift 30 pounds overhead, carry loads up to 75 feet, and walk up to seven miles per day.
  • Safely maneuver carts or dollies carrying loads up to 200 pounds through stairs, elevators, passageways, and outdoor terrain.
  • Maintain close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision, with ability to adjust focus.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain high attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and orderly job sites and storage areas.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and peak business periods.
