Produce Manager - Full Time - Year Round
About The Position
Volante Farms in Needham, MA is a place for all seasons. As a fourth-generation family run farm, farm stand, and garden center it has over one hundred years in the community- specializing in homegrown and locally grown produce, ornamental and vegetable plants and seasonal decorations. More recently, several new departments were added as part of a large renovation. These include a locally sourced grocery department, butcher shop, ice cream stand and a still growing food service component including a deli, bakery, coffee shop, and two kitchens preparing food for retail sales; soups, salads, and sandwiches; catering for businesses and family events; pastries and desserts. Requirements
- 2 years of previous experience in retail management, preferably in a produce department or similar setting.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
- Ability to train, develop, and motivate employees.
- Knowledge and interest in local produce
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the produce department, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Ensure that all produce is fresh, properly displayed, and meets quality standards.
- Train, manage, and develop staff members on proper produce handling techniques and customer service skills.
- Work with the management team to create and implement strategies to increase sales and meet department goals.
- Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and make informed decisions regarding pricing, and product selection
