Senior Outsource Supervisor (Art)

Crystal Dynamics is seeking a Senior Art Outsource Supervisor to oversee external vendors and contractors for upcoming game titles. The role involves managing workflow and deadlines, ensuring art quality meets studio standards, and collaborating with internal and external teams for asset implementation. The ideal candidate should have artistic and technical skills, experience in creating high-quality 3D game art, and the ability to provide critical feedback to external partners. Responsibilities include setting art delivery standards, establishing workflows and submission processes, coordinating with production teams, finding solutions to challenges, negotiating contracts, and mentoring internal artists. Professional experience in art outsourcing, knowledge of the game art production pipeline, proficiency in various art tools, and strong communication skills are required.

• Work with the Art Leads to establish the art delivery bar for the project and direct internal artists and external partners to deliver that quality
• Set up workflows and submission processes with vendors, providing training and feedback to ensure timely and quality asset delivery
• Develop detailed documentation, references, and examples to facilitate the creation of quality assets throughout the production cycle
• Coordinate with the production team to plan, track asset creation progress, and manage delivery schedule using production tools
• Find solutions to visual, production, and technical challenges
• Negotiate contracts with vendors, establish costs and deliverables, and monitor the budget after contracts are in place
• Assist in the recruiting and hiring process, including screening and interviewing potential candidates
• Mentor and nurture the growth of internal outsource artists, identifying areas for improvement and facilitating training opportunities
• Have professional experience as an Art Outsource Supervisor, Manager, Lead, or equivalent, overseeing the creation of outsourced game art
• Possess a strong working knowledge of the art production pipeline for games and different types of art assets
• Provide feedback on art created in various tools such as Maya, Zbrush, Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and Unreal Engine
• Understand how to use Project Management Tools/Software such as Shotgrid, Jira, and Confluence
• Have a firm understanding of contract negotiations, budgeting, and asset management
• Demonstrate solid communication skills, including the ability to explain technical art concepts and give clear, actionable feedback
• Show a strong inclination and genuine interest in pursuing a future leadership role within the organization
• Provide examples of work that showcase a keen eye for quality and detail, ideally for outsourced art.

• Professional experience as an Art Outsource Supervisor, Manager, Lead, or equivalent
• Experience overseeing the creation of outsourced game art for a high-quality title
• Strong working knowledge of the art production pipeline for games
• Experience providing feedback on art created in various tools such as Maya, Zbrush, Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and Unreal Engine
• Understanding of Project Management Tools/Software such as Shotgrid, Jira, and Confluence
• Firm understanding of contract negotiations, budgeting, and asset management
• Solid communication skills, including the ability to explain technical art concepts and give clear, actionable feedback
