This role is responsible for managing the operations and personnel for a significant number of truck units across one or more locations, ensuring business objectives, labor requirements, and financial goals are met. The position involves overseeing location performance against key metrics, ensuring compliance with company processes, and potentially serving as a development role for future leadership positions.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required
  • Four (4) years or more experience in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role.
  • Three (3) years or more supervisory experience.
  • Exposure to working with strategic labor, financial, operating, quality, safety and asset processes as well as related metrics.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Maintenance and Technical experience in a shop environment preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate preferred)
  • Experience with Fleet Management Software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee work analysis, vehicle planning and scheduling, technician work assignment, productivity tracking, and RO review/approval.
  • Directly involved in strategic labor planning, balancing shift schedules, establishing operating hours, and leveling workload for maximum efficiency.
  • Optimize labor at the shop, ensuring the optimal mix of straight time, overtime, and outside repair.
  • Optimize shift patterns to match technician availability with customer operating hours.
  • Oversee the execution of the Workflow Management process.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development to assigned management team (Operations Manager, Operations Supervisors, Technicians In Charge, Customer Service Coordinators).
  • Responsible for Performance Management of all assigned personnel.
  • Ensure successful development and execution of the Technical Training Plan.
  • Prioritize TOPS plan based on breakdown, rework, and running cost trends.
  • Evaluate and recommend staffing changes based on business environment shifts.
  • Manage Recruiting, Hiring, On-boarding, Payroll, and Succession Planning.
  • Directly responsible for customer relationship management, including issue resolution, satisfaction, retention, and ensuring vehicle uptime.
  • Optimize vehicle maintenance cycle time and ensure shops meet or exceed Delivered in Time Promised objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of the Customer Communication Protocol.
  • Partner with the Sales Team to scope new business opportunities and identify growth within the existing customer base.
  • Collaborate with Sales Team to develop the service requirement section of the Customer Care Plan.
  • Conduct customer visits and Annual Reviews as required.
  • Directly involved in strategic financial planning, developing budgetary forecasts, and implementing cost control measures.
  • Directly responsible for successful execution of Maintenance Initiatives to attain or exceed financial targets.
  • Work with vendor sourcing group to identify potential and preferred vendors.
  • Ensure accuracy of third-party invoices and quality of outsourced work.
  • Oversee and manage exceptions for Payroll, Purchase Order approval, invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation.
  • Responsible for the successful execution of the customer bill back process.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation and reporting of re-billable activity.
  • Responsible for the successful execution of the Warranty process and maximizing warranty recovery.
  • Ensure data integrity in the Shop Management Online system.
  • Direct management team to maintain appearance and maintenance of assigned locations, sustaining 6S standards.
  • Prioritize and approve shop tooling and equipment requirements.
  • Manage and oversee vehicle specifications and the vehicle in-service/out-service process.
  • Provide expert insight during business unit asset management reviews.
  • Ensure all vehicles have required specifications in SAM.
  • Oversee Parts Inventory management, policies, and procedures.
  • Involved in strategic quality planning by developing corrective actions for operational quality issues.
  • Oversee Quality Inspection of PM & repairs, including In Process Reviews of non-PM work.
  • Maintain control/visibility over shop floor activities to ensure proper root cause diagnosis and optimized parts yield.
  • Lead breakdown root cause analysis process, implement corrective actions, and communicate issues to the Technical Assistance Center when necessary.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace and providing guidance for all safety efforts and initiatives.
  • Ensure cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehicles.
  • Accountable for maintenance of all relevant documentation required to meet or exceed local, state, federal, and customer requirements.
  • Comply with Safety and EPA regulations and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
