About The Position

This position is ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES. The Senior Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Chief of Operations and will have significant autonomy in decision-making regarding policies and programs. This role provides crucial administrative and scheduling support, manages staff, acts as a central point of contact, and oversees complex initiatives and projects. The coordinator will also be responsible for data analysis, reporting, communications, and technical support for borough managers and supervisors. Additionally, they will manage IT coordination, customer service, records management, emergency preparedness, fleet inventory, and facility requests for the Manhattan Borough Office.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above.
  • All candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and scheduling support to Chiefs and Borough Commissioner.
  • Supervise administrative staff, including providing direction, guidance, development, and training.
  • Act as a central point of contact for Manhattan operations, processing a high volume of information.
  • Manage complex initiatives and projects, liaising with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise data collection and analysis, ensuring compliance and authoring reports.
  • Identify emerging issues through data analysis or anecdotal information and advise the Chief of Operations.
  • Manage division communications, including correspondence, memos, and dissemination of information.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to borough managers and supervisors, including database administration.
  • Coordinate with ITT on technology, infrastructure, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Provide customer service to the public and coordinate issue resolutions.
  • Oversee records management for the borough, liaising with the legal division.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness documents and procedures.
  • Oversee fleet and small equipment inventory.
  • Manage and facilitate facility and maintenance requests for the Manhattan Borough Office.
