About The Position

The purpose of this position is to ensure high availability of network devices, computer components and peripherals within CenterPoint Energy - Power Generation’s ICS (Industrial Control Systems). The operational technology specialist supports all aspects of network and computer technologies for industrial control systems with a strong emphasis on cyber security.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with a concentration in related field such as networking, cybersecurity, computer science, or 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Cisco Network Engineer or a similar role in network administration, Cisco networking, or IT infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies
  • Hands-on experience with configuration of Cisco switches, routers, etc.
  • Working experience with network and routing protocols
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues CLI tools, packet captures, Wireshark, etc.
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPN, and security appliances
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • IT/OT certifications preferred
  • CenterPoint Energy ICS vendor experience
  • 3+ years of industrial control system experience preferred
  • Experience working with SIEM integration

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining Power Generation’s asset management, log management, and vulnerability management suite of tools.
  • Responsible for network hardware/software troubleshooting within the ICS environment and integration of our SIEM systems into our OT SOC.
  • Assist with supporting NERC compliance pertaining to the Power Generation ICS environment.
  • Measure, track, and report key productivity indicators for technology processes including cyber security metrics.
  • Investigate deficiencies in cyber security posture and develop remediation plans to correct.
  • Monitor key industry information forums for current security concerns and recommend appropriate courses of action while maintaining information flow between control system components.
  • Ensure high availability in a 24/7 work environment.
