About The Position

The role is open to candidates only from the game industry who are based in Canada. People Can Fly is one of the leading independent AAA game development studios. Our international team consists of hundreds of talented individuals working from offices in Poland, the UK, Ireland, the US, and Canada, as well as remotely across the globe. Founded in 2002, we made our mark on the shooter genre with titles such as Painkiller, Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment, and Outriders. As one of the most experienced Unreal Engine studios in the industry, we continue to expand on our expertise and push the boundaries of what’s possible in game development. Our creative teams are currently working on several exciting titles: Gears of War: E-Day developed in collaboration with Microsoft; Project Echo for KRAFTON; and Lost Rift, an original IP we are developing in-house under our self-publishing model. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in game development, or similar field.
  • At least one AAA title, credited as a Narrative Designer, Quest Designer or Level Designer.
  • Game engine proficiency required, Unreal engine 4 and/or 5 preferred.
  • Ability to maximize value out of existing narrative systems.
  • Excellent understanding of interactive storytelling practices with a high degree of motivation to create immersive interactive narrative experiences.
  • Enhance team effectiveness in a dynamic, collaborative, and distributed environment, working seamlessly across multiple sites alongside Artists, Engineers, and Game Designers with a strong team-player mindset.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and iterate on solutions.
  • Ability to respond elegantly to difficult changes, finding solutions to creative or production constraints.
  • Deep knowledge of the current gaming industry development landscape, technologies, and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to learn, improve, and build skills.
  • Seeks out cross-disciplinary feedback.
  • Ability to be independent and autonomous.
  • Open to feedback and direction.
  • Can produce quick, quality revisions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Design and Narrative teams to develop interactive game systems related to narrative delivery.
  • Work in Unreal Engine 5 to implement narrative content.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary pods to deliver dynamic narrative experiences.
  • Develop and communicate creative and user experience guidelines that ensure quality and consistency across various narrative techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of narrative processes and pipelines with the production team.
  • Communicate progress, workflows, and availability of game features to content developers and writers.
  • Collaborate across development sites globally on a day to day basis.
