Overview: The Senior Mortgage Document Review Specialist plays a critical role in the end‑to‑end loss mitigation documentation process, serving as a subject‑matter expert for higher‑risk and more complex loan files. This role ensures that borrower workout packages – particularly those involving complex investors, advanced loss mitigation programs, and nuanced documentation requirements – are drafted, executed, verified, and recorded with complete accuracy. This position is well‑suited for experienced document review professionals who thrive in highly regulated environments, take ownership of complex workflows, and act as a quality and risk safeguard within mortgage servicing operations. What You’ll Do: Receive executed loss mitigation documents from borrowers and internal partners, including complex and high‑risk loan scenarios. Perform advanced validation of signatures, dates, notary acknowledgments, investor overlays, and state‑specific legal requirements. Review, scan, code, and upload documents into systems of record, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepare, reconcile, and route full document packages – often with escalated risk factors – to Quality Control, Legal, or Investor Review teams as needed. Serve as a resource for junior team members by providing guidance on documentation standards and complex review scenarios. Key Responsibilities: Interpret and apply complex investor waterfalls, guidelines, and documentation standards across a broad range of loss mitigation programs. Review and validate detailed borrower documentation, including but not limited to: bank statements, paystubs and income calculations, hardship letters, benefit and rental income statements, affidavits and state‑specific forms Identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies, or compliance risks and proactively resolve them. Request missing or additional documents and ensure proper follow‑through. Partner closely with Single Point of Contact (SPOC) teams, Quality Control, Legal, and Processing on escalated or high‑risk files. Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and audit expectations. Assist with process improvement initiatives, procedural updates, and training support as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned, including supporting audit or regulatory inquiries. Performing in‑depth document analysis for accuracy, execution, and compliance. Collaborating with internal partners on escalated or exception‑driven files. Identifying and mitigating documentation and compliance risks early. Ensuring documents are properly drafted, executed, validated, routed, and recorded.
