About The Position

MTSI is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer with specialized Mission Engineering experience. The role bridges military missions and digital architectures by translating operational Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) into executable System-of-Systems (SoS) models and integrating those models into mission-level simulation or analysis tools. The engineer will lead multidisciplinary working groups, brief military stakeholders on architecture trade studies, author technical content, and assign technical duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or a highly related STEM discipline.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience, including at least 4 years directly focused on MBSE application using SysML and executing DoD/DoW-style Mission Engineering or System-of-Systems analysis.
• Advanced, hands-on experience using Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw.
• Deep understanding of SysML diagrams.
• Proven mastery of the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), DoDAF 2.02, or similar enterprise frameworks.
• Familiarity with integrating MBSE environments with modeling, simulation, and analysis suites such as AFSIM, Ansys STK, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Expertise establishing digital threads using requirements databases such as DOORS or DOORS Next Gen linked directly to the system model.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Active Secret clearance required at start.

Nice To Haves

• OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certification at Model Builder – Intermediate or Advanced level.
• Experience with model-based scripting and automation using Python, JavaScript, Jira, Confluence, Apache Groovy, or Apache Velocity Template Language (VTL) inside Cameo to autogenerate interface control documents (ICDs).
• Prior experience supporting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives, space systems, or integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) mission areas.

Responsibilities

• Translate warfighter CONOPS and mission scenarios into executable behavioral models and digital threads.
• Build and maintain enterprise and system architecture models using SysML, UAF, or DoDAF in Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Capture operational concepts, functional architectures, and logical and physical interfaces.
• Identify and track Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs) to evaluate mission success.
• Integrate descriptive MBSE system models with mission-level modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, STK, or MATLAB/Simulink to quantify system-of-systems performance.
• Establish end-to-end digital traceability from high-level mission capabilities and requirements to subsystem components and verification and validation (V&V) procedures.
• Lead multidisciplinary working groups, brief military stakeholders on architecture trade studies, author technical content, and assign technical duties as needed.
