Senior MMIC Design Engineer

Keysight Technologies, Inc.•Santa Rosa, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

This role is part of Keysight’s Technology Organization, which focuses on technology opportunities and market trends to address unmet needs. The engineer will join a collaborative team developing high-frequency components for Keysight instruments. The position is based in Santa Rosa, California. The engineer will design, lay out, and validate high-performance millimeter-wave integrated circuits (MMICs) for Keysight’s next-generation instruments. The work includes collaborating with internal customers to define critical performance parameters, matching requirements to advanced semiconductor processes, and executing, characterizing, and documenting designs. Designers use industry-leading tools, a measurement lab, device-modeling resources, and the expertise of a broad engineering team.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with thesis work and/or relevant industry experience in millimeter-wave IC design.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on millimeter-wave IC design in advanced semiconductor technologies; relevant M.S. or Ph.D. work may count.
  • Experience completing at least one cycle of transistor- or diode-level design, physical layout, verification (DRC and LVS), and measurement validation.
  • Experience with multiple types of millimeter-wave frequency circuits, such as mixers, amplifiers, multipliers, and filters operating above 30 GHz.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to document and present results.
  • Understanding of devices and their parasitics, and ability to use that understanding to develop designs that push process limitations.
  • Understanding of state-of-the-art technologies and how circuit design and process capabilities can help drive key specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills for working in a dynamic environment across multiple teams and projects.
  • Motivation to complete tasks required to meet aggressive product-development schedules and manufacturing expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high power in a single MMIC, above +30 dBm.
  • Experience in system-level analysis.
  • Knowledge of device modeling, thermal design, and IC package design.
  • Experience in wafer-probe calibration and measurements.
  • Knowledge and experience in thin-film and PCB board design.
  • Experience with ADS, Momentum, EMPro, SystemVue, or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, lay out, and validate high-performance millimeter-wave integrated circuits for Keysight’s next-generation instruments.
  • Work with internal customers to understand and define critical performance parameters.
  • Match design requirements to advanced semiconductor processes.
  • Execute, characterize, and document completed designs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teammates and contribute to product development schedules and manufacturing expectations.
