About The Position

Mission Driven Research (MDR) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead or participate in analysis of future Missile Defense System (MDS) architectures and concepts, and in modeling and simulation (M&S) tool development supporting architecture assessments. The role assesses capability gaps, challenges, needs, and opportunities against current and future threats to develop potential architecture solutions that mitigate gaps or improve performance. It also supports analysis planning, simulation execution, results assessment, reporting, and tailoring M&S tools to specific analysis plans.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Master's degree with 12 or more years of experience in missile defense-related work or another complex, large DoD program/project; alternatively, a bachelor's degree with 20 or more years of experience.
• Solid understanding of the current MDS architecture and future concepts.
• Experience modeling, assessing, and evaluating future missile defense architectures.
• Strong ability to interpret results and present findings clearly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with others to achieve objectives.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks by importance and urgency.

Nice To Haves

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with AFSIM or similar MDS simulation tools or frameworks.
• Background in IAMD/Cruise Missile Defense systems.
• Background or experience with space systems.
• Experience defining and using advanced concepts and algorithms for M&S of MDS architectures.
• Experience supporting systems engineering-related architecture design activities.

Responsibilities

• Assess MDS capability gaps, challenges, needs, and opportunities against current and future threats.
• Develop potential architecture solutions to mitigate capability gaps and improve system performance.
• Assist in developing analysis plans.
• Execute MDS simulation tools, post-process and assess analysis results, and prepare architecture analysis briefs and reports.
• Support M&S efforts, including tailoring tools to specific analysis plans.
• Lead or participate in analysis of future MDS architectures and concepts and development of M&S tools for architecture assessment.
