About The Position

ASSYST is seeking a highly experienced Senior Microsoft 365 / SharePoint Engineer to support a client engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SharePoint Online, SharePoint 2016, and Microsoft 365 administration. This role involves managing user access and permissions, enforcing security and compliance standards, optimizing system performance, automating processes using PowerShell, and delivering advanced technical support. The position requires hands-on experience with enterprise SharePoint environments, infrastructure management, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in SharePoint administration (SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2016)
  • 4+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, system analysis, or infrastructure support
  • 3+ years of experience supporting server and database infrastructure
  • 3+ years of experience in technical support and troubleshooting
  • Experience managing enterprise-level SharePoint environments

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Microsoft 365 groups, users, and permissions (creation, deletion, restoration, access control)
  • Administer SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2016 environments
  • Implement security policies, compliance controls, and data protection strategies
  • Configure sharing settings and manage access to SharePoint sites and OneDrive
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and resolve SharePoint-related issues
  • Troubleshoot system, application, network, and database-level issues
  • Perform system maintenance, patching, upgrades, and backups
  • Monitor system performance, logs, alerts, and server health
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and bulk operations
  • Manage large-scale SharePoint site collections and enterprise content
  • Create and maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Conduct user training sessions and promote best practices
  • Collaborate with developers on custom solutions, workflows, and integrations
  • Participate in and support IT infrastructure and SharePoint-related projects
