About The Position

Accenture Federal Services is a technology company focused on assisting the US federal government. The SharePoint Online System Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supporting migrations from legacy SharePoint environments into modern SharePoint Online. This role involves ensuring smooth transitions of content, workflows, permissions, and solutions, while also modernizing business processes through Power Platform and updated SharePoint Online capabilities. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across business and IT.

Requirements

5 years of IT experience
Hands-on experience migrating SharePoint environments to SharePoint Online using tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix, or native Microsoft migration tooling.
Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, permissions, site templates, lists/libraries, and modern UI.
Proficiency executing custom PowerShell scripts for SharePoint administration, migration, and automation (PnP, Graph, CSOM).
Experience converting classic SharePoint Designer workflows or InfoPath forms into modern solutions.

Nice To Haves

Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-700, MS-600, PL-100/200/400, SC-300).
Experience with SPFx, TypeScript, React, or other modern development frameworks.
Background supporting federal, regulated, or secure enterprise environments.
Familiarity with taxonomy, content types, and enterprise metadata strategies.
Experience with on premises data gateways.
Experience executing custom PowerShell and managing site migration automation.

Responsibilities

Execute migrations from SharePoint Subscription Edition into SharePoint Online using enterprise migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Migration Manager, PowerShell automation).
Diagnose and resolve issues during migration, including throttling, permissions inconsistencies, legacy workflow dependencies, or unsupported customizations.
Prepare pre-migration assessments, inventory reports, mapping documents, content normalization, and remediation plans.
Convert legacy SharePoint customizations and workflows into modern SharePoint Online equivalents using Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint Framework (SPFx) as applicable.
Assist with determining "best fit" replacements for legacy forms and workflows.
Collaborate with business owners to translate legacy forms and workflows (e.g., InfoPath, SPD workflows) into sustainable, cloud-ready solutions.
Build and enhance Power Apps connected to SharePoint lists, libraries, and external data sources.
Create Power Automate flows to replace legacy SharePoint Designer workflows and automate routine business processes.
Implement governance-aligned best practices for Power Platform deployments, ALM, and solution lifecycle management.
Advise on content clean-up, restructuring, and metadata enrichment to improve usability and searchability.
Configure modern SharePoint sites, hubs, permissions, information architecture.
Partner with site owners to ensure alignment with governance, compliance, and user experience standards.
Develop custom PowerShell scripts (PnP.PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, CSOM) to automate migration tasks, reporting, bulk updates, and provisioning.
Troubleshoot PowerShell and API-related issues during migration or modernization projects.
Maintain script repositories, documentation, and reusable automation modules.
Work closely with project managers, business users, and technical teams to gather requirements and provide status updates.
Deliver post-migration support including issue remediation, user training, and knowledge transfer.
Create and assist with documentation, migration plans, and governance guidance.
