About The Position

The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for developing procedures to maintain or improve plant operations and gold recoveries, optimizing usage of consumables through research and development, as well as reconciling gold and for all aspects of metallurgical accounting at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy. The position will be on an 8/6 (10.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $128,180 to $173,420 CAD.

Requirements

  • As a Senior Metallurgist, you will possess a Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering or similar discipline and be registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • 5-10 years experience as a Process Metallurgist
  • Able to work with and understand budgets

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop improvements of processing operation and gold recoveries, and optimize the use of consumables.
  • Develop policies, procedures and plant test work related to process improvements.
  • Set parameters for process plant to ensure it is operated in the safest, cost-effective and most efficient manner for optimum recovery.
  • Compile and issue daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical balance sheets.
  • Responsible for the month end mill production reconciliation.
  • Troubleshoot production and process problems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Supervise the metallurgy teams.
  • Schedule equipment downtime.
  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
  • Maintain inventory of mill consumables (e.g. reagents, liquid oxygen, grinding media).
  • Complete assigned project work for potential plant expansion.
