About The Position

Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX: NST) is seeking a Senior Metallurgist for its Pogo operation in Alaska. This role reports to the Metallurgical Superintendent and is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Metallurgical team within the Processing Department. The position involves mentoring, coaching, developing procedures, ensuring personnel training, managing the day-to-day metallurgical function, producing month-end reports, and supporting other metallurgists.

Requirements

Degree majoring in Metallurgical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum 5 years' relevant overall experience in the mining industry
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the gold mining industry
Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.

Responsibilities

Mentoring and coaching of Metallurgical Team to a standard that produces succession planning of departmental positions.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for tasks performed by the team.
Ensure personnel are adequately trained and qualified in relevant operating procedures.
Day to day management of the metallurgical function.
Producing month end reports for the Processing Department
Supporting Project and Plant Metallurgists; filling in as needed
Other duties as required.
