About The Position

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Senior MEP Practice Builder to expand our MEP practice in Florida! This role involves project management in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, requiring the ability to oversee MEP design from concept to completion, including continuous interface with design teams and clients. The successful candidate will have proven design experience with comfort and MEP systems and related controls, strong verbal and written communication skills, and critical thinking ability. They will be responsible for writing responses to RFPs/RFQs, working individually or in a multi-discipline team, and mentoring/coordinating designers and technical staff. This role demands managing and delivering tasks under minimal supervision and guidance, with a strong desire to grow and lead a MEP practice. Practice Builders at Kimley-Horn manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as positive leaders. The individual will have significant autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business, with the potential for an impressive bonus program and advancement to ownership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Proven design experience with comfort and MEP systems and related controls
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Project Management role is in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.
